A lifelong piano enthusiast, René Sauriol has been playing this magnificent instrument with his fingers since the age of 5. As a graduate in the field, he has superior knowledge of the piano, being himself a pianist and an accompanist. Finalist at the Festival international de la chanson de Granby n 1979, René Sauriol is also a music writer. Jazz, pop, rock, new age… this musician plays a wide range of music. But above all, René Sauriol composes pieces for his own pleasure.

Tuning a piano requires dexterity, but also a lot of knowledge. Writing music makes it easier for him to understand the mechanism and functioning of the instrument. For Mr. Sauriol, a good tuner must first and foremost be a musician. His background allows him to validate that each key meets the sound. The mechanism of a piano lies between the musicians’ brain and fingertips. A bad connection on the instrument does not convey the pianist’s intention. Also, being a musician allows a better understanding of the acoustic behavior of a piano.

Having perfected his art up to starting his own business in 1982, René Sauriol now offers his services to all those who wish to learn more about this fabulous stringed instrument that is the piano. The instrument owes its origin to the harpsichord and the spinet, among others. Did you know that?

Mr. Sauriol is bilingual (French and English). He travels throughout the Montreal region and its suburbs as well as the Valleyfield area. This tuner visits private homes as well as music schools, educational institutions, concert halls and recording studios, among others. René Sauriol was a member of the Fraternité des accordeurs et techniciens de piano du Québec (FATPQ) from 1985 until its dissolution in 2014.
